                                                DONALD TRUMP

The 2016 US elections was a circus in many ways but serious lessons to be leant. Let me go with the amusing aspect first. During the last 12 months of the campaign the Republican debates were a joke in many ways. So many candidates, so many of them in my view only seeking publicity. What was Ben Carson thinking, the US is not ready so soon for another black president.

Chris Christie was too cantankerous, Randi Paul was too saucy. Carly Fiorini, well let me say she was going no where and she knew it.  Jeb Bush was crazily thought Americans would take him seriously, not after that Florida debacle with the previous Bush. We can all conclude that there will be no more Bush ever again in the White House. Furthermore, Jeb was good always a constant source of jabs from Donald Trump.

When it came down to Trump and Clinton, Trump took his campaign to another level. He being a shrewd businessman, approached his campaign like a business unlike Clinton, a politician. “Make America Great Again”, so catchy and the model slogan for a campaign. No one will forget that after hearing it once. What was Hillary’s slogan again?

Trump campaigned on what mattered to the average American, Security issues. All Americans will always want to know that a president has that high on their agenda. ISIS drives fear into everyone. I recall how Trump responded to the San Bernardino massacre. It was a perfect situation for him to talk about his position on terrorism. Many persons don’t like when he keeps saying that no more Muslims will come to America if he wins. He wants no more Syrian refugees. He wants to send home all illegal immigrants. He wants America to be safe again. That resonates well.

The average American wants to hear about growth in the economy, jobs to be returned, factories to be re-opened and less jobs leaving for China etc.

Clinton, went off too much telling citizens not to vote for Trump because he gropes women. Well Bill allegedly had many extra marital affairs, so she shouldn’t go down that path. Furthermore, it is my humble belief that if a third term was allowed, Bill would have gotten it. So what it means is that Americans don’t want a Saint Paul or a John the Baptist as a president.

Attacking Trump about not paying federal taxes, is not a crime. The law allowed it, so what he did was not illegal nor immoral. If there is a problem with their taxes, then Hillary should have helped or agitated for fixing that as she has been a career politician.

The polls definitely had her winning BUT it seems there were many voters who would not disclose that they were going to vote for Trump for fear of backlash. Those closeted Trump supporters held to key to his success.

The Americans who are protesting his success, need to shut up. The fact is Americans boast that they have the best democracy so they should accept the results once they cannot prove fraud or irregularity. Many keep saying that Clinton got the most popular vote but Trump won the Electoral College, then if that’s a problem then they need to fix it. That system has served them for ages, so why make it an issue now.
